Flying In From Milan It's...

Flying In From Milan It's...

Six Red CarpetsSix Red Carpets
Genre: Rock / Alternative
From: Milan, Italy

Italian trio Six Red Carpets have taken a leaf out of the Radiohead book in releasing their debut album 'Nightmares & Lullabies' as a free download via their website. Yes that's free, gratis, without the need to part with any money! And there's not even an honesty box in which to deposit any of your virtual currency!

Whilst this was considered a bit of a risk for a band with the international profile, back catalogue and impressively large and loyal fanbase of Radiohead it's tantamount to commercial suicide for an unknown Italian band making their way in the cut throat music industry.

Unsurprisingly the bands free release has been received with a little more than a bored yawn compared to the world wide fanfare and 'new musical commercial model' hyperbole that accompanied the release of Radioheads' 'In Rainbows' .

But gradually the blogging community has started to cotton on (check out Six Red Carpets - The Dream Of Billy Kite on MP3 Hugger earlier this month), started to twig that if the best things in life are free then 'Nightmares & Lullabies' with it's late 80s alternative rock affectations recalling Smashing Pumpkins in their pomp is no exception. The band even manage to make a track that reminds this critic of 'Message in a Bottle' by The Police ('Angels' Vanity') sound like a must have addition to any music lovers collection.

Critique Chronique CD Free MP3 Gratuits : Six Red Carpets - Lullabies + Nightmares

Here s to The Nightmare, by Six Red Carpets

It’s not a virus or crap like that ,so you shouldn’t be afraid, give us a chance to be listened by you.

Click on our website www.sixredcarpets.com to download a folder in which you’ll find the 13 tracks, the e-booklet and a short story we’ve written to introduce its concept.

You can use our .mp3 as you want, and if you think it’s a good idea you can share our music with your friends, or mailing list, or making a review of the album; you can also leave a comment on our myspace page (www.myspace.com/sixredcarpets), let us know what you think about it.

We want you to know that we’ve done everything by ourselves: we’ve produced everything of this album, we’ve recorded, we’ve mixed, we’ve mastered (… and paid for the copyright of the tracks…)…but we bet you’ll like the results of all the work we’ve done.

We don’t have any label or production yet, so we appreciate any kind of Help and Support and we’re ready to any kind of collaboration.

Take care,

Six Red Carpets

Six Red Carpets - The Dream Of / Billy Kite

Six Red Carpets - The Dream Of / Billy Kite

Six Red Carpets
Six Red Carpets, a Milanese 3-piece, released their debut album ‘Nightmares + Lullabies’ at the end of June. As is fast becoming the norm the album was issued free of charge for anyone with the time/inclination to download it. So Six Red Carpets were accorded no headlines or calls from important media outlets about their novel approach. Freebies are so passé these days you see, we’ve become ambivalent and somewhere along the way some important music has been lost. So you should put some time aside getting this album on your hard drive because it is a beautiful record. There are flashes of Smashing Pumpkins and early Whipping Boy throughout the 13 tracks, the production is lush and the strings when they appear illuminate the scene rather than appear like an afterthought. The most pleasing aspect of ‘Nightmares + Lullabies’ is that it sounds so vibrant and ripe with possibilities. ‘Vanilla Scent’ and ‘The Dream of / Billy Kite’ are my current favourites but there are lots more besides to enjoy. KD

SIX RED CARPETS Nightmares + lullabies Autoproduzione 2008

I milanesi stringono in pugno le sonorità della post new wave quella più creativa e meno mascarata: “ Words forgetting, words forgot - Angel’s vanity- Fall asleep” e quelle tenui sperimentazioni evanescenti di stampo Radiohead fuori catalogo :” Twenty two and the charm of gravity - I was there – Bring me noise ( fulminante nel bell’impasto di chitarra cavalcante).
